Take our bodies, O Christ, to do your work; for here on earth
you have no body now but ours. Take our hands to be your
hands, and our feet to walk in the ways of your feet. Take our
eyes to be the eyes of your own compassion, shining out in a
troubled world; for your own mercies’ sake. Amen.

Teresa of Avila (1515-1582)

Loving and compassionate God, we thank you that, in
Jesus, we see your care and concern for all people in
action. We pray that we may follow your example and, through
your Holy Spirit, we may offer that love to others, especially
those in need. We pause to reflect on the people and
situations that those words bring to mind. We remember in
particular the Leaders of Worship and Preachers Homes, the
four ‘Westerleys’, that offer residential care to those who
can no longer live independently. We ask your blessing on
the residents, and on those who care for them.

Our prayers, though the Leaders and Worship and
Preachers Trust, go to all those who preach, speaking to
people according to their needs, that their acts of worship,
and the example of their lives, may sustain, comfort and
challenge those who hear them. Amen.
