0400 – Namibia Synod

Namibia Synod

There was lots of celebration as Namibia, once again became an independent Synod within the MCSA. Gathered at the Central Methodist Church in Windhoek and Rehoboth from 25-26 January 2020, Methodists from the birthing synod Kimberly Namibia and Bloemfontein, from Namibia and the broader Connexion witnessed the official birth of the Namibia Synod.
The General Secretary Rev Michel Hansrod read the boundaries of the new Synod

“Whereas, at the Mission Synod held in Windhoek, on the 23rd of February 2019, a resolution was passed that the Synods of the Cape of Good Hope and Kimberley Namibia & Bloemfontein be sub-divided, and the Namibia Synod be formed; and whereas the Conference of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa, held in Cape Town in September of 2019, formally agreed to the sub-division of the Synods; Be it known that a 14th Synod of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa is created out of the Cape of Good Hope and Kimberley Namibia & Bloemfontein Synods, the boundaries which are: Oranjemund Circuit; Windhoek Circuit; Rehoboth Circuit; Coastal Circuit; Kavango Mission and Kokerboom Circuit

Rev Charmaine Morgan is the Bishop of the Namibia Synod and the office of the Bishop is in Windhoek.
